A week ahead of our official Mother's Day weekend season start (May 11), we will be open on Saturday May 4 from 9am-6pm as a participating site for "World Labyrinth Day" (WLD). This special day focuses on connecting people of all faiths (or none) to the beauty and peace of labyrinth walking near where they live. There are less than 40 labyrinths in New Hampshire that can be visited by the public. Petals in the Pines offers two unique woodland labyrinths--see descriptions below.
World Labyrinth Day admission: $7 per person (infants are free) or FREE with the purchase of a 2024 Season Pass on or before that day. WLD includes both labyrinths, 2+ miles of trails/paths, plus use of the Arbor Day-certified Outdoor Classroom / play-space / picnic area. Register and pay on the Farm Stand Porch when you arrive.
Our theme for the day is "Nature Therapy," to highlight the healing power of quietly spending time in woodlands, gardens, and meadows. Activities offered on May 4 include:
Reserve your place(s) for kids (10:30) and/or adults (12:30) yoga sessions here; there is no extra charge for the Yoga, but donations are appreciated at the end of each session!
Hike at your own risk--watch out for slippery rocks! Please leave pets at home.
OPEN WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY, 9-6
Closed Monday and Tuesday
In our fast-changing and often chaotic world, many people find clarity, peace, and renewal in quiet rhythmic practices such as yoga, tai chi, or labyrinth walking. We have two woodland labyrinths at Petals in the Pines—away from the sights, scents, buzzing, and activity of the gardens and pollinator meadow.
These sacred spaces in the woods allow guests to achieve a transformative inward focus, to enter into a spiritual connection to pray or seek direction (listening for the “still, small voice” of God), or simply to slow down enough to notice the small miracles of nature all around them.
The first, located high above Hayward Brook (a 3/4-mile round-trip hike), is called “Love and Grace”—a modified 7-circuit Chartres-type medieval labyrinth, with a forest peat path lined with pasture stones, and custom designed with separate entrance and exit (so more than one visitor can walk it at the same time without having to step off of the path). The center of the labyrinth is in the form of a heart.
The second, the “Peace” labyrinth, located in our shady hemlock grove, offers an activity space for quiet family-friendly focusing. Listening to the sounds of water, wind, or birdcalls, while slowly walking the winding labyrinth’s path among the trees, will provide a soothing and comfortable break for kids and caretakers, all while heightening a sense of wonder.
Both labyrinths are marked on our Trail Map (available in a black box on the wall of the Farm Stand Porch after you check in), which will help you navigate our 2+ miles of trails and pathways.
Regular Season Admission for walking the trails and labyrinths is $7 per adult. For trail-walkers with kids who also play in the Pavilion and Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom, the admission is $7 per kid; adults and infants are free. Please pay your admission when you arrive at the Farm Stand porch (cash, check, credit card, Venmo). Please let us know how many adults and children were in your group, and record it on the clipboard on the table in the Farm Stand. If you're a Season Pass holder, there is no fee, but please sign in on the log book clipboard.
The woods, meadow, and gardens change throughout the summer and fall. Like what you see? Save money with a Season Pass.
Hike at your own risk, and watch for slippery rocks! Sturdy shoes are recommended. The trails are not suitable for strollers; Please leave pets at home.
We occasionally schedule private parties here and the pavilion and play areas will not be available during these times. Please check our calendar before your visit to check availability of the pavilion. Thank you.
